Our Last Nickle
1997 Bay TB Mare
Nikki competed through the Preliminary level and is now retired from upper level eventing. As Jeanna's first serious horse she has many fond memories and many heartbreaking ones as well. Nikki is a mare that stood out wherever she went. She was a major princess and expected to be taken care of as such. Even with a personality as big as her's she went to work every day you got on. She always wanted to do the best job possible and loved xc more than anything else. You would never know that she only had sight in her right eye watching her go along. She was an amazing mover for a full blooded TB, but with her love of jumping and distaste for dressage her scores would never show it. Above all she was a teacher even when she was the student!
She competed in 39 USEA recognized events in 11 different states in their 10 years together. Impressively enough, the mare only pulled 6 rails in all of those events!! Retired from lessons in August 2020, and will be enjoying her retirement with us for the rest of her days.

What Money Can't Buy
2009 Grey TB Mare
Grace came to Jeanna out of a field as a two year old. She knew she would be easy to train when the horse walked right onto the trailer the first time even though she had never seen anything like it before. Grace is constantly learning and growing in the JEM Eventing program and finished her first Beginner Novice HT at Spring Bay this April. She is very willing, but still young and green. After a rough patch in May where we figured out how to handle Grace's growing body, Grace successfully completed a season at Novice level. 2013 was a great learning year for her and she moved up to Novice at River Glen in August and then went on to complete Jump Start, Virginia, Champagne Run, and River Glen again in the fall.
In 2014 Grace moved up to training level as a five year old. She then took the fall season off, as I accepted a new position that landed me away from her for a few months. The beginning of 2015 was spent in Aiken while I worked as a barn manager. She was very accommodating to be second fiddle to my job and still compete well. She continued to run a few more training level events. As we moved back to Area VIII she won her first outing here at IEA. Putting in a personal best of 26.6 and bring home the blue in a 20 horse open division certainly made us proud.
Grace has been filling in as a lesson horse the last year and is now enjoying retirement.
